A0 Poster
Graphic Matters invited design students from the Netherlands and Belgium to create a powerful A0 poster about my perspective on Artificial Intelligence. 55 were selected for an exhibition at 3sec.gallery in Breda (an indoor gallery). My design stood out for its original, visually striking take on AI’s opportunities and challenges for humankind, sparking conversations about technology, creativity and authenticity.

Art-Direction
The central inspiration for these posters comes from the golden plaque, a symbol of humanity’s knowledge, culture, and identity. Physically tied to the Voyager missions, this plaque encapsulates a message from humankind to the universe, acting as a timeless artifact of our achievements and values. In the design, it functions as the conceptual anchor, representing humanity as the ultimate source.
volte-face (/ˌvɒltˈfɑːs/)
noun: volte-face; plural noun: volte-faces
1. an abrupt and complete reversal of attitude, opinion, or position.
'Volte Face' was choses to fit compellingly with the controversial theme of AI in today's world. This concept of suddenly turning or changing perspective resonates deeply with the ongoing debates and shifting attitudes surrounding artificial intelligence. From what perspective ones opinion should shift is open for debate as humankind has not yet decided what the endgoal is.
American Standard Code for Information Interchange
To translate this human heritage into the digital age, ASCII art was chosen as the primary material. Rooted in early computer culture, ASCII art reflects the intersection of creativity and technology. By rendering the golden plaque imagery using this binary-friendly medium, the design creates a bridge between humanity’s analog legacy and the precision of artificial intelligence.

Evolution
Additionally to the Voyager's golden plaque contents a visual is inserted to reflect the next phase in the famous evolution symbol. Where early species slowly stood upright to accommodate their needs, the evolutions has slowed down and today we slouch more down to accommodate or digital needs such as phones and computers. With this we change our humanly characteristics visualised in orange to signal 'a' alarm, unknown about its function.
